Careers at WRSD
We at Willie Ross School for the Deaf work to maximize our students’ intellectual, emotional, and social growth. We are a passionate team of professionals, and we very much value accessibility—in all its forms—in the workplace and classroom.
WRSD employs the Most Enabling Environment for its students, where placement in an educational setting is based on an assessment of a student's individual strengths and challenges and the environment's capacity to facilitate accessible, quality learning experiences.
In addition, we employ a Total Communication philosophy to our school programs. Individual communication needs of each student are based on comprehensive and ongoing assessment. WRSD utilizes American Sign Language, spoken and written English, spoken English in combination with sign support, as well as any and all augmentative communication tools deemed appropriate by the child’s IEP team.
We strive to build our team of faculty and staff by including those with diverse backgrounds, experiences, perspectives, and identities.
We offer a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package designed to support you and your family. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life, and even pet insurance coverage. Employees can choose from two traditional HMO health plans or a high-deductible HMO option. WRSD covers 60% of health insurance costs, while employees contribute 40%.
To help employees save for healthcare expenses, we also offer a Health Savings Account (HSA) with employer contributions matched dollar-for-dollar up to $750 for individual plans and $1,500 for family plans.
In addition, employees are eligible to participate in a 403(b) retirement savings plan immediately upon start, with WRSD matching contributions up to 2% after one year of full-time employment.
Our staff also enjoy 16 paid holidays each year, promoting a healthy work-life balance.
