COVID-19 Update

WRSD offices are open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

School Nurse


Willie Ross School for the Deaf is looking for a qualified School Nurse Monday thru Friday, typically 3 hours a day during school calendar days or 182 days. Due to Covid we are extending the hours 2+ hours so that screening can be done when the students arrive.  

The School Nurse will need to assess various health issues and needs of the students, develop and implement care plans if needed and maintain health records on SNAP software.

The School Nurse does not need to know sign language for this position but a willingness to learn is always welcome.  A classroom assistant or other staff member will accompany any students visiting the nurse’s office.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Ensure that every student has all required medical forms on file.
Ensure required immunizations and physicals are up-to-date and on file.
Provide daily medical support for students as needed.
Provide daily medical guidance to students, staff and parents.
Communicate with outside medical treatment providers if necessary.
Educate students, parents and staff about medications and their impact on the student.
Implement, review and update the nursing procedures manual.
Evaluate students on a daily basis for complaints of medical issues.
Provide annual screenings (vision, height & weight, etc.)
Must have a current Massachusetts Nursing license (R.N.)
