Our Ask an Audiologist coffee chat with families will be held in person at Boston Children’s at Waltham on Saturday, May 10 from 9-10 am. Join Alison Leschinski, ScD, and Kalie Buchman, AuD, to discuss habilitation, language development, routine maintenance and meet other families & develop a support network! The address is 9 Hope Avenue, Waltham MA 02453, on the first floor in the Ophthalmology conference room, just underneath the ORL/CCE department wing. Families with children of all ages are welcome. E-mail Kalie at kalie.buchman@childrens.harvard.edu if you would like to attend on May 10!

The Family Education and Advocacy Team (FEAT) has created a brand new virtual seminar to help young DHH adults prepare for the transition from pediatric to adult audiological care. The seminar will be on Zoom on Thursday, May 29 from 6:30-8:00 pm. The target audience are young adults and their caregivers who need to plan their transition to adult audiological care in the next few years.  To RSVP, please contact DHHPOutreach@childrens.harvard.edu.

Is your deaf or hard of hearing child between ages 5-10? Join us for a fun Recreational Day (Rec Day) event on Saturday, June 7 at the Weston Community Center from 1-3 pm! D/HH middle school students who attended the Success Leadership Camp in Vermont last month will coordinate games for younger children. We will play games such as Dragon Tail and Red Light & Green Light.  They are very much looking forward to this day, and we hope you can join us!  Siblings are welcome.

We will host our annual D/HH outing to the New England Revolution game on Saturday, June 14 at 7:30 pm! Tickets will be on a first come first serve basis. Please let us know your child(ren)’s T-shirt sizes when you respond. We will hand out your tickets and T-shirts on the day of the event.

Cultural Connections, a component of the outreach program, has several resources available for Spanish-speaking families with deaf and hard of hearing children, including an ASL at Home curriculum, a reference book with 500+ signs, speech and language milestones and best practices, and a developmental milestones booklet. We also offer virtual ASL classes with a trilingual parent mentor. Contact DHHPOutreach@childrens.harvard.edu if you would like more information or for us to mail the resources.

We developed a communication guideline for students who are involved in sports and after-school activities. There are two separate guidelines – one for caregivers and one for coaches. The guidelines will guide coaches and other adults with best practices for communicating with deaf and hard of hearing children on and off the field, along with other teammates. Please share with families and coaches. We are open to your feedback as we continue to revise and align with your child’s experiences! To access these guidelines, along with other sports-related resources, please click the link to our shared Sports Resources folder: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1WMEUi2dKc0W-YTdN-qBpvdsicbbkSzTf?usp=sharing
