Audiology Clinic Office Administrator / Medical Billing Specialist
WRSD is seeking a qualified Office Administrator / Medical Billing Specialist to support our audiology clinic. This role is responsible for effectively managing the billing and collections processes as well as running the daily office operations. This position will be responsible for maintaining accurate appointment schedules, credentialing clinical staff, general clinic office functions, processing and tracking claims, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in the billing process, and providing excellent customer service to both patients and providers.
Primary Duties
- Scheduling and maintaining audiologist schedule on EHR system.
- Generating patient profiles in EHR system and scanning the historical chart into profiles, if applicable.
- Patient contact, check in, and information management within medical data system.
- Obtaining and managing medical clearance requests, records releases, and insurance prior authorizations.
- Generating SuperBills for each patient encounter outlining fee for service and for each CPT code.
- Sending SuperBills to the billing company and scanning of billing packet into patient’s chart.
- Maintain patient files in accordance with all compliance laws and mandates.
- Documenting via “Journal Entry” any interactions with patients and indicate which communication platform was utilized (telephone, email, google chat).
- Input patient information into the practice’s billing software
- Submit claims to insurance companies and follow up on unpaid claims
- Resolve any issues that arise with claims or payments
- Answer patient inquiries regarding billing and payment
- Maintain accurate records of billing and collection activities
- Generate monthly reports to track billing and collection performance.
Requirements
- 2 years medical office and medical billing experience required—audiology experience preferred.
- Experience with Excel, Word, and related Google apps (Docs, Sheets).
- Experience with medical billing software, such as Blueprint
- Excellent customer service skills
- Good problem-solving and analytical skills
- Able to multitask and prioritize tasks efficiently
- Knowledge of medical coding and billing terminology
- Progress toward Survival Plus rating on the SLPI or other comparable sign language proficiency exam to be evaluated every two years from hire.
